I like birds. This is a Wompoo Pigeon. They eat a lot of Quandong, a lot at Warrigal. They eat fruit acid wood. We use a lot of these birds. We boil them up and put them over fire sometimes. The Butcher Bird chases their chickens so do Hawks and Kookaburras and snakes probably goes up for chickens to.
They taste very good. Not many around since the cyclone. Not many trees about and not many fruit. It will take a long time for them to come back.

Emily Murray
Emily Nigandy Murray is a Girramay and Jirrbal Traditional Owner of the Davidson Creek area. She is based in the Murray Upper area, North-West of Cardwell, Queensland. Emily works across a number of mediums including weaving, painting and ceramics. As an expert weaver of traditional Mindi baskets, Emily has been a tutor and demonstrator of weaving practises at schools, exhibitions and art centres across Eastern Australia. Emily has a very strong connection to place and heritage. Her art draws from traditional stories, calendar events, plants, animals and her homelands.
Her work is represented in a number of private and institutional collections in Australia. This includes the Queensland Art Gallery, British Museum, Lady Cilento Mater Children's Hospital and National Museum of Australia. She has been included in major sculptural installations for the Museum of Oceanography Monaco 2015 (6 months), Cairns Performing Arts Centre 2018 (permanent) and The Townsville Strand Ephemera 2012.

Girringun Art Centre’s arts and crafts are hand produced, one off original works. As such they may from time to time have unique marks or craftsmanship nuances that may be deemed as faults. These will be determined on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us within 30 (thirty) days upon receipt of the item if you feel the work has an issue that you’d like to discuss.

Should your product be faulty, we are happy to provide a store credit to the price of the item (proof of purchase required). Any times that are returned will be shipped at your cost. Insurance: We strongly recommend insuring all arts, crafts and fragile products. As we hand our items to reputed freight, postage and courier companies we cannot accept returns of items purchased that have been damaged due to their negligence.
